Sort of boring, but it’s the “official” book on patents, put out by the US Patent Office in the Department of Commerce.

It’s at basically every libary… but you might as well buy your own copy. Plus it’s only $5 !

I was watching the “making of Gollum” special on the Two Towers DVD (Extended Version) and one of the digital effects guys looked extremely familiar. The eyes and eyebrows particularly…

His name is Jason Schleifer, and he’s the Senior Animator/Creature Technical Director for Lord of the Rings at Weta Digital, the company who created Gollum.

I did a quick web search and was vindicated- he graduated from my high school (Palo Alto High School) two years ahead of me…

His brother Kyle was one year behind me. They may have been at my elementary school as well… It looks like they are working on a short film together, called Jonh and His Dog. It looks interesting, and that is not a typo.

Jason is such a stud in this DVD. He interviewed all over the place also, and has MEL scripts on his home page. Rad.

It’s a Singer sewing machine- but with computerized controls.

And look at the interface for it- it uses a GameBoy!
